FBS has control of every facet of its export supply chain, which allows FBS
to deliver projects on-time, on-budget and provides FBS customers with a
reliable, consistent and competitive service.
Quarry and Export
FBS's export division has developed a fully integrated supply chain which incorporates the following key elements:
- Quarry & Crusher Operations
At FBS's own quarry, rocks are produced through a process of drilling
and blasting. A survey is conducted to determine suitable blasting zones
by the quarry and blasting management team. Drill rigs are
deployed at the designated areas where blasting operations will be
carried out. The drill and blast patterns are modified to produce the
required fragmentation defined by each project specification.
After blasting the rocks are selected and sorted into different
grades using excavators. The next stage is to crush and
screen the rock into the required aggregate sizes. Armour
rock materials are transported by flat bed trailers and dump
trucks to designated stockpiles. Loading of these rocks is
carried out by excavators to ensure material quality. Each
stockpile is subject to quality control tests at FBS's on-site
laboratory to ensure compliance with customers required
specifications.
- Land Transportation Logistics
Rock and aggregate grades are then loaded and transported to FBS's
own marine export terminal or Fujairah Port.
- Logistics, Stevedoring and Marine Export Terminal
FBS has its own dedicated marine export terminal in Fujairah, used for
both stockpiling and loading tugs and barges. FBS has its own
stevedoring team and equipment located at its marine export terminal,
which load and discharge all tugs and barges. Materials are stockpiled,
by grade, at the allocated storage areas. Upon berthing of the barge,
the stockpiled material is fed either via conveyors or dumper trucks. The
average loading rate is 1,200 metric tonnes per hour.
Marine Export Terminal
- Marine transportation using both geared handysize and handymax bulk carriers and tugs & barges
The use of tugs and barges from the FBS marine export terminal allows
FBS to deliver to customers that are located on waterways that cannot
support larger ships.
FBS also exports aggregate from the Port of Fujairah using ships
supplied by FBS shareholders. A number of stockpiling zones have been
provided by the Port to store the aggregate and together with the latest
bulk loading technology available today, FBS is favorably
positioned to provide a first class, precision-driven service to our
customers.
FBS has a dedicated fleet of chartered ships which provide regular
monthly volumes to its customers. Handysize (30,000 tonnes) and
HandyMax (50,000 tonnes) ships are loaded at the Port of Fujairah with
aggregates.
- End user customer/consignee support
FBS manages the discharging and transportation of rock and
aggregates to end user customer at destinations via a network of exclusive
partners.
Since its inception FBS based in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, has built
up a very successful export and quarry business and is the leading supplier
of Gabbro rock and aggregate. FBS has developed a reputation and
expertise for reliability and innovation in the drilling and blasting, quarrying,
production, transportation and logistics of rock and aggregate movement.
FBS offers customers a 'single source' complete package of
services ranging from sourcing and production of high quality
rock and aggregate to delivery at destination by ship or tug and
barge.
Milestones
- 2006 - Concession from the Ruler of Fujairah to build the FBS Marine Export terminal with its own dedicated tug & barge berths
- 2006 - Successfully won FBS's first of many large contracts centered around the supply of rock and aggregate products
- 2007 - Purchased our own fleet of land transportation vehicles
- 2007 - Exporting over 450,000 metric tonnes of rock and aggregate per month
- 2008 - Purchased, via our shareholders, a number of tug & barge units
- 2008 - Acquired FBS Quarry with state of the art crusher
- 2010 - Commenced our own drilling and blasting operations
